Guardianship Social Workers (GSWs) acts as a legal Guardian to all children and youth in care of the Director. GSWs provide culturally appropriate and holistic services to protect and support children in care. This is done by building trusting relationships and working in collaboration with the children in care, the family/caregivers, Indigenous Communities, identified elders, and support workers. The views of children, families and communities are sought, valued, respected and considered in all aspects of service planning, service delivery and service evaluation.

Post Majority Worker supports young adults in their transition to adulthood by providing continuity of service, a connection to a broad range of adult government, community and cultural supports and services, and access to financial supports post-19 years of age. The PMW ensures the right people are brought together to collectively plan, make decisions, and commit to actions that best support the transition of young adults to adulthood. PMW collaborates with other ministry staff to support relational and cultural stability, assist young adults to consider and plan for their future goals, and support the management and updating of the transition plan.

Resource Social Worker (RSW) is primarily responsible for the assessment, recruitment, orientation, development, training and maintenance of a range of resources in which to place children-in-care (CIC) or children in Out of Care placement. The position monitors the services provided, supports caregivers and liaises with child protection, guardianship and support services staff.

The Youth Programming Coordinator (YPC) is part of the continuum of prevention strategies provided by FVACFSS to support and strengthen Indigenous children and youth in their communities. The position works flexible hours to enhance the well-being of Indigenous children and youth. The YPC works closely with the Youth and Guardianship basket to support Visions and Voices, youth events and other youth driven activities. The YPC reports directly to the Youth Family Strengthening Team Leader and links to the Youth and Guardianship Delegated Team Leaders.

Family & Cultural Connections Workers (FCCW’s) are focused on bringing together family, extended family, community supports and Agency staff to develop plans for child safety, family and cultural connections and placement. FCCW’s combine their strong cultural knowledge with mediation and facilitation skills to create environments that build child safety and placement solutions with families, supporting and respecting cultural/traditional values and practices.
